What is the best rear-facing convertible car seat for a compact car?

I want a good convertible car seat to use in a compact car. I want to start using it from 5lbs on, but I'm concerned that my vision in the rear window will be blocked if the seat is used in the center, but I am told that's the safest place for baby. Also, if I use it behind the seat, I don't want to lose legroom. Anyone got any suggestions? I am looking at seats under $200.

I also like the britax seats like a pp said but they dont typically hold newborns well many carseats dont they are rated for their weight but their lowest harness strap is quite often higher than babies shoulders. Rear facing the slots have to be at or below their shoulders.

The cosco scerena is good, the evenflo triumph advance, and the first years true fit.

The true fit you are able to take the headrest off while baby is under 22lbs giving you more room rearfacing and it harnesses to 65 lbs. This fits newborns great too because it comes with an awesome infant insert. I would definately try that one out its wide but where the headrest can come off making it a shorter seat for babies it doesnt take as much legroom away. Harnessing past 40 lbs is safer anyway so its really a great seat they run around $180 but you can find them online for sale with free shipping quite often
